Rishikesh tourism

Located in the slopes of the Himalayas along the conjunction of Ganga and Chandrabhaga River, Rishikesh is a little town in the Dehradun district, situated close to Haridwar in Uttarakhand. Rishikesh (also called as Hrishikesh) is recognized for its adventure activities, antique temples, popular cafes and as the “Yoga Capital of the World”. Doorway to Garhwal Himalayas, Rishikesh is also one of the holiest regions for Hindus.

Well-known as the ‘Yoga Capital of the World’, Rishikesh received its fame when the most popular English rock band Beatles paid a visit to the place back in the 60s. The famous band, seeking holiness, spent their moment at the Ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

While devoting some time at this ashram is an absolute when visiting this mystical city, there are plenty of other places that claim your attention. Start your day with river rafting at Shivpuri trailed by a simple breakfast at one of the waterside cafes and then roam around the numerous shops lined beside Laxman Jhula.

Finally, relax at the Ghat and submerge automatically in the magnificent and fabulously tranquil Ganga Aarti in the sunset.
